Table Grove to Ipava Power Line Project

What do the poles
look like?
Poles are primarily wood.
Switch poles around the substations are galvanized steel, and self-supporting structures are either laminated wood or weathered steel.
What is your minimum distance for clearing or tree trimming?
To reduce the likelihood of safety hazards and power outages, PPI trims trees and clears vegetation along the right-of-way. PPI clears 50 feet from the centerline of the transmission line. Additional trees may require being topped off or felled if they are deemed danger trees.

Where will the power
line be located?
The new 69 kV power line will primarily be located along existing road ROW. We anticipate needing an easement that is ~100 feet in width, ~50 feet on each side
of the pole. Since poles are designed to be placed on the edge of cultivation, in most cases, ~50 feet on one side will be in the
road right of way.
What is the length of the route?
The new 69 kV power line will run
approximately 3 miles and connect
Prairie Power’s new Pleasant View
Substation to an existing Prairie Power line in Macon County, Illinois.

ABOUT
The new power line will run approximately twelve miles and will connect Prairie Power’s existing Industry and Table Grove substations. The line will be owned and operated by Prairie Power. Once constructed, this line will greatly improve the quality and reliability of electric service for McDonough Power Cooperative and Spoon River Electric Cooperative members. It will also help McDonough Power Cooperative and Spoon River Electric Cooperative meet its local load-serving needs.
The power line is planned for construction primarily on single pole structures located primarily along existing road rights-of-way (ROW). We believe that you are a property owner along our proposed route for the line. As such, we would like to negotiate a fair and reasonable agreement with you for a ROW easement that allows Prairie Power to construct, operate and maintain this line. Prairie Power has teamed with Hanson Professional Services, Inc. (Hanson) to work on ROW for this project.
In addition, we wanted you to be aware that land surveyors will be on or near your property to perform a road right-of-way survey beginning in October 2024. This survey activity will help us prepare for the project and should have minimal impact on you and adjacent landowners.
